Dominik Groß is professor for health ethics and history of medicine. Since 2005 he is managing director of the Institute for History, Theory and Ethics of Medicine at RWTH Aachen and chairholder of the eponymous professorship. Since 2008 he leads the committee for ethics at the University Hospital Aachen, moreover the task force ethics of the German Association for odontology and orthodontics since 2010.
Groß studied dentistry, history, philosophy and archeology as well as human medicine. 1990 to 1996 he was a dentist at the University Hospital Ulm. After his habilitation in history, theory and ethics of medicine (1998/99) and his medicine studies (2000) he worked parallel as private lecturer in Würzburg and Ulm as well as as dentist in Stuttgart (2000-2005). The history and ethics of dentistry is an activity emphasis already since 1990.
